You’re probably spending a lot of time inside because of the cold weather, making it the ideal time to tackle some cleaning tasks. By handling these chores now, you’ll have more time to enjoy your favorite activities when spring arrives. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy a clean, cozy house. With that in mind, check out some home cleaning tasks to put on your to-do list this month. Then work your way down the list so your house will be in tip-top shape.
Clean the Kitchen Cabinets
You probably wipe your counters off after cooking, but what about your cabinets? The grease can fly out of the pan and end up on your cabinets, eventually coating them. You can fight back by cleaning the cabinets with a degreaser.
First, put on some rubber gloves and grab a citrus-based cleaner. Use it to spray down your cabinets and let it penetrate for several minutes.
Then wet a sponge, ring it out, and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Next, use the sponge to wipe off the cabinets, and dry them off with a clean towel. Your cabinets should sparkle and shine when you’re done.
Clean Your Stove
Your stove is the next item on your to-do list. Keep your rubber gloves on, and remove the knobs, burners, and drip pans. Your drip pans likely have a lot of grease and grime, so mix baking soda with dish soap to clean them. After using the solution to wipe them down, set your drip pans off to the side.
Then use a citrus-based cleaner to clean your stovetop. You’ll use the same cleaning strategy that you used for the kitchen cabinets, meaning you’ll need to spray the stove before wetting and microwaving a sponge. Then use the sponge to wipe off the stove before drying it with a towel.
What if your stove looks hazy or grimy after you finish? If that happens, put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and use it to spray down the stove. Then use a dry towel to remove the vinegar. Finally, rinse out the sponge, put it back in the microwave, and wipe down the stove again.

Replace the HVAC System’s Air Filter
Your HVAC system’s air filter prevents pollen, mold, and other contaminants from entering your home. Unfortunately, though, it can’t do its job if it’s too dirty. If you haven’t replaced your filter recently, do so now. First, write the date on the new filter, so you’ll remember when you replaced it. Then replace the filter and make a note to do it again in one to three months.
These tasks will help you get your home in fantastic order before spring arrives. Then you can embrace the new season without having to spend so much time cleaning your house.
