Ghost stories are a Halloween tradition, and Disney delivers with a film adaptation of their famous haunted house attraction. You can see Eddie Murphy in the spirited comedy The Haunted Mansion at The Paramount this month!
When and Where
The Paramount Theatre will screen The Haunted Mansion on Tuesday, October 29. The PG-rated film will start at 7 p.m. The theater is located at 139 South Center Street, Goldsboro, North Carolina 27530.
The Haunted Mansion
Set in the Louisiana bayou, the film follows the Evers family as they take a fateful detour while on vacation. Eddie Murphy’s Jim Evers is a successful real estate agent, and when he learns of a potential deal, he drags his family out to see the derelict property. When a storm traps the Evers in the mansion overnight, the home’s spectral residents emerge, and the family must find their way through a twisted plot of mysterious motivations and ghostly hijinks.
Behind the Scenes
Following the success of Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney realized that they had a goldmine of movie material at their theme parks. Prior to the pirate romp, they had adapted Country Bears, Mission to Mars, and the Tower of Terror, yet the 2003 swashbuckling adventure proved that their rides had true box office potential. While The Haunted Mansion didn’t lead to a long list of sequels like Pirates of the Caribbean, there are now talks of a remake written and produced by Guillermo del Toro.
Spot Mickey
Disney loves hiding their iconic mouse ears in their movies, and you have three chances to spot the little “Easter eggs” in The Haunted Mansion. If you keep your eyes open, you might spot it at the gates, and for a brief moment in two pivotal scenes.
Movie Night at Paramount
While Paramount is renowned as a performing arts venue, it also serves as the perfect spot to watch a film with family and friends. Popcorn, beverages, and other snacks will be sold at the concession area, and a big screen will stand over the stage. On some special movie nights, the theater is even decorated to suit the theme of the night’s presentation.
